Ashley A. Fisler, 36, has been arrested in Washington Township, New Jersey, facing serious allegations of sexually assaulting a student. The charges, announced by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, include eight counts, with six being first-degree sexual assault of a minor.
The investigation began when the victim, now an adult, reported an unlawful sexual relationship with Fisler on January 23, 2026. Allegations indicate that the encounters occurred both in Fisler’s car and within her classroom at Orchard Valley Middle School.
Investigators uncovered text messages between Fisler and the victim that corroborate the victim’s account, intensifying the gravity of the situation. Each first-degree charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, while second-degree charges could result in up to 10 years behind bars.
Fisler has been suspended from her position in the Washington Township School District since April 2023, following the initial reports of misconduct. Superintendent Eric M. Hibbs stated, “The district is aware of the charges announced by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a former middle school teacher. We take matters involving the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously.”

This is too close to us, literally right across the street.” Neighbor Olivia Axelrod added, “Honestly it’s unbelievable to even think that could happen and also nobody saw it, you know. Fisler is currently being held in the Salem County Jail, with her first court hearing scheduled for March 27, 2026. The investigation was conducted by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Washington Township Police Department.
