Blue Cain, a junior guard for the Georgia Bulldogs basketball team, is making waves in the 2026 season with an impressive scoring average of 13.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. With a total of 1,017 points in just three seasons, Cain has established himself as a pivotal player for the Bulldogs.

Having started 74 of 103 games with Georgia, Cain is the only player to have started every game for the team over the last two seasons. His remarkable consistency has earned him the title of Georgia’s all-time free-throw percentage leader at 84.4%.

Cain’s basketball journey began in Knoxville, where his parents met while playing pick-up games. His mother, Myriah Lonergan, was an All-American basketball player and is honored in the Hall of Fame at George Washington, while his father, Chris Cain, played golf at Duke University.

“I’ve always believed in myself. I feel like you honestly have to, or else you can’t do it,” Cain stated, reflecting on his journey and the challenges he has faced. His commitment to the Bulldogs came after being released from a letter of intent at Georgia Tech in May 2023.

Jeremiah Wilkinson, a coach for the Bulldogs, praised Cain, saying, “He’s one of the pillars of how this program has come back to the light.” This season, Cain is expected to contribute significantly, with predictions of 10 dunks throughout the year.

Cain’s parents maintain a unique post-game tradition, providing one positive and one negative comment about his performance, which they believe helps him grow as an athlete.

As the Bulldogs continue their season, observers are keen to see how Cain’s performance will impact the team’s success, especially given that Georgia has made only one NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2001-02 season. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the team’s prospects for this year.
