“I’ve been excited about that for a long time, and I’m fired up to get back to it,” said Ryan Coogler, the writer and director of the upcoming Hulu reboot of The X-Files.
Danielle Deadwyler is set to star as the co-lead alongside Himesh Patel in this revival of the iconic series. The pilot has been officially greenlit by Hulu, marking a significant step in bringing the beloved franchise back to the screen.
Deadwyler and Patel will portray original characters, stepping into the shoes of two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents. This new direction aims to capture the essence of the original series while introducing fresh narratives.
The original X-Files series, which aired from 1993 to 2002 with additional seasons in 2016 and 2018, followed FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigated unsolved cases involving paranormal activity.
Chris Carter, the original creator of The X-Files, will serve as a non-writing executive producer on the reboot, ensuring that the new series retains the spirit of its predecessor. The reboot is being produced by Onyx Collective and 20th Television.
As interest in aliens and UFOs surges, this reboot is poised to tap into current cultural phenomena. The pilot is being cast by Francine Maisler, with Simone Harris as a co-executive producer.
Gillian Anderson, who played Scully in the original series, encouraged fans to embrace the reboot, stating, “Have an open mind and give it a chance because it’s going to be fucking cool.”
With the pilot now in motion, fans are eagerly anticipating what this new chapter will bring. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the release date and further casting announcements.
