Is Discord down? Thousands of users reported widespread connection failures on Wednesday, particularly affecting voice services. Many encountered the ‘Awaiting Endpoint’ error, which prevents users from connecting to voice servers.
According to Downdetector, more than 22,000 outage reports were logged at 3:19 p.m. Eastern time. As the situation progressed, reports decreased to over 7,000 by 4:34 p.m., indicating ongoing issues.
Of the reported problems, 65% were specifically related to the voice chat feature. Discord’s engineers noted degraded performance around 3:20 p.m., prompting the company to acknowledge the outage.
A Discord spokesperson stated, “We’re aware of an issue that impacted voice connectivity on Discord and have identified and mitigated the cause.” Users took to social media to express their frustrations, with one asking, “Is anyone else having issues with Discord right now? It just says Awaiting Endpoint when trying to connect to a voice channel.”
While the outage primarily affected voice services, text and other features appeared to function normally for some users. Discord confirmed they are actively investigating the issue, with another statement indicating they are working to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The ‘Awaiting Endpoint’ error often arises during major outages, networking issues, or server-side failures, which has been the case for many users today. As of 5:11 p.m. Eastern time, users continued to report problems.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full scope of the outage and when services will be fully restored. Discord has reassured users that they are on top of the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
