“She was seen driving with extreme indifference to the value of human life,” stated the Lexington Police Department following the arrest of 20-year-old Kaydence Carpenter.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. in downtown Lexington, where Carpenter allegedly drove her Tesla into a group of pedestrians, injuring at least four individuals. The injuries sustained by the victims are reported to have the possibility of being life-threatening.

Carpenter has been charged with four counts of second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI, reckless driving, and allowing a person under 21 on premises where alcohol is sold. Witnesses reported seeing her drive over a curb into the crowd.

Video footage captured the moments leading up to the crash, showing Carpenter arguing with bystanders before the incident. She exhibited several signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol.

“The injuries to the pedestrians had the possibility of being life-threatening,” the police added, emphasizing the severity of the situation.

Despite her condition, Carpenter refused to take a breathalyzer test and failed her field sobriety test. She was later released from the Fayette County Detention Center after posting a $5,000 bond.

In a surprising twist, Carpenter was all smiles in her mugshot, raising questions about her state of mind during the incident. Additionally, a fake ID was found in her car at the time of her arrest.

A judge has suspended her driver’s license until the case is resolved, and her next court appearance is scheduled for April 14.

Details remain unconfirmed as the investigation continues into this alarming incident.
