“What I love about this is that it’s so specific to the Philadelphia community,” said Michael Empric, reflecting on the vibrant celebrations of National Cheesesteak Day.

On March 24, 2026, cheesesteak enthusiasts flocked to Philadelphia, where local favorites like Pat’s King of Steaks and Geno’s Steaks offered mouthwatering promotions. Pat’s King of Steaks delighted customers with free fries accompanying any cheesesteak purchased between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., while Geno’s Steaks attracted crowds with a deal: buy four cheesesteaks and get the fifth free.

The excitement reached new heights at the Philadelphia International Airport, where a Guinness World Record was set for the “Longest Line of Cheesesteaks.” The line stretched an impressive 1,200 feet, utilizing almost a thousand pounds of ribeye steak and 225 pounds of cheese.

“The airport is really the entry point for everybody coming into the city,” noted Dana Krawchuk, emphasizing the significance of the event’s location.

In addition to the record-breaking line, various eateries offered special deals. Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop provided a buy-one-get-one 50% off deal, while Hot Table served $5 small cheesesteak paninis in-store only. Philly’s Best offered a $2 discount on their Cooper Classic cheesesteak from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Texadelphia joined the festivities with a buy-one-get-one-free cheesesteak promotion, and G’s Cheesesteaks handed out free sandwiches from 1 to 3 p.m. In a charitable twist, Pat’s King of Steaks partnered with Djour.Philly to create a special “guest” cheesesteak, with proceeds benefiting Philabundance.

As the day unfolded, the aroma of sizzling cheesesteaks filled the air, and the community came together to celebrate a beloved local tradition. “When the cheesesteak craving calls, it’s best to answer with a napkin in one hand and a sandwich in the other,” remarked Best of Cleveland, capturing the essence of the day.

With the overwhelming success of National Cheesesteak Day, local businesses and residents alike look forward to next year’s celebrations, eager to continue the tradition that originated in 1994 when four Philadelphia high school friends first celebrated their love for cheesesteaks.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any future plans for expanding the event, but the enthusiasm surrounding cheesesteaks in Philadelphia shows no signs of waning.
