In a chilling turn of events, the FBI and NYPD have thwarted a plot to firebomb the home of Nerdeen Kiswani, a prominent activist based in Hoboken, New Jersey. The investigation revealed that 26-year-old Alexander Heifler had been planning the attack, which included assembling components for Molotov cocktails.
On the morning of the thwarted attack, law enforcement officials acted swiftly after Kiswani was informed of the plot against her life. Heifler had been in discussions with an undercover NYPD detective for weeks, detailing his intentions to target Kiswani due to her activism.
Heifler, who is a resident of Hoboken, was arrested after authorities discovered he had prepared eight Molotov cocktails, utilizing Everclear vodka among other materials. He faces serious charges, including unlawfully making and possessing firearms, which could lead to a maximum of ten years in prison for each count.
Kiswani, co-founder of the activist group Within Our Lifetime, expressed relief that the plot was thwarted but acknowledged the persistent threats faced by activists advocating for Palestinian rights. “I feel very blessed that they were able to thwart this, but it’s something that is a constant possibility for people who speak up on behalf of Palestine,” she stated.
