Neemias Queta has struggled significantly in the NBA playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers, failing to make a noticeable impact. His performance has raised serious questions about his future as the Boston Celtics’ starting center.
Before this playoff series, Queta was considered a disciplined two-way player during the regular season. However, he has accumulated too many fouls consistently throughout the series against the 76ers.
In fact, he combined for only 25 rebounds in the last two games of the series. The Celtics now face a critical decision as they head into Game 7 of their Eastern Conference first-round series.
As of midday Saturday, Queta will not start in Game 7. Instead, Luka Garza will enter the starting lineup, replacing him.
This shift highlights the urgency for the Celtics to find a reliable center. The team is reportedly considering drafting North Carolina center Henri Veesaar, who could compete with Queta for that starting spot.
Veesaar averaged 17 points and 8.7 rebounds in his last season at North Carolina. His strong performance has made him a priority for teams looking for a big man who can provide NBA minutes quickly.
Experts suggest that this series has exposed that Queta can’t be their starting center going forward. Sean Grande noted that Queta won’t start Saturday’s Game 7 against Philadelphia.
The Celtics currently lead their series with a record of 3-1 but must address their center position to advance further.
