Playoff Details and Broadcast Information

The 2026 Travelers Championship will conclude with a sudden-death playoff on Monday morning, featuring Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland. The two golfers finished their final rounds on Sunday night tied at 21 under par, necessitating the extra play to determine the champion. The playoff is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET at TPC River Highlands.

The sudden-death format will start on the 18th hole. If the players remain tied after the first playoff hole, they will continue to play the 18th until one secures the title. The winner will receive a prize of $3.6 million, while the runner-up will be awarded $2.16 million.

Fans can watch the Monday playoff coverage on television via Golf Channel and NBCSN, with broadcasts commencing at 9 a.m. ET. Streaming coverage will also be available starting at the same time.

Weather Delays and Sunday’s Conclusion

The need for a Monday playoff arose due to a significant weather delay that impacted Sunday’s final round. Play was initially suspended at 5:57 p.m. ET because of dangerous weather conditions, including rain that suddenly pelted TPC River Highlands and the detection of electricity in the course’s radius. A total of 1.12 inches of rain fell during this period.

The final round resumed at 7:20 p.m. ET, allowing Scheffler and Hovland to complete their rounds late into the evening. With no daylight remaining after they finished tied, the decision was made to postpone the playoff until Monday morning.

Before the suspension, Scheffler had made two birdies in his last four holes, including a two-putt from 39 feet on the par-5 13th. He ultimately shot a 2-under 68 for the round. Hovland, who was in the final pairing with Scheffler, shot a 1-under 69 for his round.

Player Performances Leading to the Playoff

Both Scheffler and Hovland had opportunities to win outright on the 72nd hole but were unable to convert their birdie chances. Scheffler’s 27-foot attempt fell short, though he managed to roll in a par. Hovland’s birdie effort narrowly missed the right edge of the cup.

The pair concluded their regulation play with a score of 21-under 259. Scheffler is seeking his second victory of the season, having previously won this event in a playoff in 2024 against Tom Kim. His career playoff record stands at 2-2.

Hovland, who won the Valspar Championship a year ago, also has experience in playoffs, having won one at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday in 2023. This marks a significant opportunity for both players in the final Signature Event of the season.

Other notable performances included Collin Morikawa, who held the clubhouse lead after a 9-under 61 on Sunday, finishing at 20-under for the week. Matt Fitzpatrick, with three wins this season, finished a shot further back at 19 under. Last week’s U.S. Open winner, Wyndham Clark, was tied for fifth at 18 under alongside Akshay Bhatia.

The playoff between Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland will commence at 9 a.m. ET on Monday.
