Settlement payments from a $2.67 billion class action lawsuit against Blue Cross Blue Shield are set to begin in May 2026, impacting millions of insured Americans.
The lawsuit alleged that Blue Cross Blue Shield broke antitrust laws by limiting market competition. Customers were required to file a claim by November 5, 2021, to be eligible for payment.
Individuals and insured groups who were customers between February 7, 2008, and October 16, 2020, may qualify. Self-funded accounts who were customers between September 1, 2015, and October 16, 2020, may also be eligible.
About six million claims were filed by the deadline. Payouts are expected to average around $333 per claim.
Approximately $1.9 billion remains available for payout after deducting costs from the settlement fund.
