Brandon Ingram’s Injury Could Impact Raptors’ Playoff Chances

brandon ingram — US news

Brandon Ingram was ruled out for the second half of Game 5 due to right heel inflammation. This injury may significantly impact the Toronto Raptors’ chances in the NBA playoffs as they face elimination against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ingram played 11 minutes and 22 seconds in the first half, scoring just 1 point on 0-of-2 shooting. He also recorded 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 block before being sidelined.

The Raptors lost Game 5 to the Cavaliers 125-120. Ingram’s absence is particularly concerning as he was brought to Toronto to help alleviate pressure on Scottie Barnes.

Ingram has struggled during the postseason, averaging 14.8 points per game compared to his regular season average of 21.5 points. He has been dealing with this heel injury since after the All-Star break.

Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic confirmed that Ingram reaggravated his heel injury during the game. “Brandon, as you guys know, has been dealing with his heel,” he stated.

Scottie Barnes emphasized the importance of having Ingram available, saying, “Obviously, we need him out on the floor. His playmaking ability and his defense and everything he brings.” The team will need to adjust quickly with Game 6 looming.

The extent of Ingram’s injury and his availability for Game 6 is unclear. The Raptors must prepare for a crucial match without knowing if their key player will return.
