The Sacramento Kings experienced a significant defeat against the Brooklyn Nets, with the Nets forcing 28 turnovers in their 115-83 victory. The game took place on Tuesday evening at the Thomas and Mack Center as part of the Las Vegas Summer League. This loss brings Sacramento’s record in the summer league to 1-2, while Brooklyn improves to 2-1.
The Nets‘ defensive intensity was a key factor, as they recorded 21 steals, giving them a 14-steal advantage over the Kings. This defensive pressure contributed to Sacramento’s struggles throughout the game.
Nets’ Dominant Start and Offensive Performance
The Kings initially scored with a Dylan Cardwell dunk, assisted by Alex Karaban, but this proved to be one of their few easy offensive plays. The Nets quickly responded with an 8-0 run, establishing a lead they maintained for the remainder of the game. Drake Powell, who had not made a three-pointer in four summer league games prior, successfully drained multiple in the first quarter.
Brooklyn’s offense was strong from the outset, achieving a 38-18 lead by the end of the first quarter. The team’s offensive momentum continued into the second quarter, extending their lead to 30 points at one stage. Despite efforts from Nique Clifford and Cardwell to reduce the deficit with layups, the Nets maintained control. By halftime, the Kings were trailing by 22 points, with the score at 56-34.
Egor Dëmin led the Nets in scoring with 22 points, including 20 in the first half and 16 within the first 10 minutes of the game. Dëmin also contributed four rebounds, eight assists, and four steals without committing any turnovers. Powell added 18 points, including four three-pointers, and two steals. Other notable performances for Brooklyn included Mikel Brown Jr. with 16 points, Danny Wolf with 14 points, Chaney Johnson with 13 points and nine rebounds, and Ben Saraf with 11 points off the bench.

Kings’ Individual Efforts and Second-Half Push
Despite the team’s overall performance, Kings rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr. was the leading scorer in the game, tallying 26 points on 9-for-18 shooting, along with five assists. Acuff Jr. demonstrated his ability to penetrate the paint and find open teammates, using his quick first step to get past defenders like Wolf for an and-1 layup. He also made a couple of three-pointers in the third quarter.
Emanuel Sharp, another Kings player, contributed 23 points, making 6 of his 11 three-point attempts. Sharp also recorded four steals, showcasing his defensive capabilities. Both Acuff Jr. and Sharp attempted to spark a comeback in the third quarter, with the Kings scoring 29 points in that period. However, the Nets also posted 30 points in the third, preventing Sacramento from significantly closing the gap.
The Kings had a stronger second half, scoring 49 points, but the large deficit from the first quarter proved too much to overcome. This loss marks their second consecutive defeat in the summer league, following a previous loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
Game Statistics and Upcoming Schedule
The Nets dominated several statistical categories, including fast break points (30-3), points in the paint (56-34), and points off turnovers (41-16). All five of Brooklyn’s starters finished with double-digit scoring. The Kings, in contrast, struggled with ball security, highlighted by Acuff Jr.’s five turnovers.
The Sacramento Kings are scheduled to play their fourth summer league game against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST on ESPN2. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets will face the Houston Rockets on Thursday.
