Macy’s has confirmed that its store at Pittsburgh Mills will close on April 26, 2026. This closure is part of the company’s plan to shut down 150 locations across the country this year.
The Pittsburgh Mills store opened its doors in 2005 and has been a staple in the community for nearly two decades. As the closure date approaches, all sales at the store are final, and returns are no longer accepted. Fixtures, shelving units, and other displays are currently being sold off.
In January, the Macy’s property was sold to Namdar Realty Group for $2 million. Since then, Namdar has been actively seeking prospective buyers for the mall, indicating a shift in the retail landscape at this location.
While some employees have been offered transfers to other Macy’s locations, others will receive severance packages as the store prepares to shut its doors. A salesperson at the store noted, “Morale is a little low and supplies are exceptionally high,” reflecting the uncertainty surrounding the closure.
This decision comes amid a broader trend of retail downsizing, as many companies adapt to changing consumer habits and economic pressures. The closure of Macy’s at Pittsburgh Mills marks a significant moment for the local retail environment, which has already seen various changes in recent years.
