Patrick Mahomes is currently rehabilitating from surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL. His commitment to recovery is evident; he takes a trainer with him even during family weekends.
Brett Veach, the Kansas City Chiefs’ general manager, stated that Mahomes is way ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation process. Mahomes began this journey just one day after his surgery in mid-December.
Veach noted that Mahomes has been in the training facility every single day throughout his recovery. This level of dedication mirrors Mahomes’ previous recovery from a dislocated knee, which took only three weeks.
The Chiefs are actively considering Mahomes’ participation in upcoming offseason activities and training camp. However, there are concerns about protecting him from overexerting himself during this critical time.
Veach expressed admiration for Mahomes’ determination, saying, “I think it wouldn’t surprise you guys, the way it’s been really inspiring to just see.” He added that the biggest challenge might be managing Mahomes’ own drive to push harder than necessary.
The team’s coaching staff, including head coach Andy Reid, is closely monitoring Mahomes’ progress. They aim to balance his eagerness with the need for caution as he continues to recover.
